Notice: In many areas of the country, it is not permitted for an unqualified person to connect grid-interactive electrical equipment to the utility grid. It could result in severe penalties and/or fines. Be sure to check your local electrical codes and regulations before installing this system. You may need to hire a licensed electrician in order to pass an electrical inspection.Note: This kit comes with an IronRidge XRS rail mount for the solar panels. There are many different types of mounts that can meet your needs but the most popular mounts for this quantity of modules is a rail mount system. Some of our customers prefer top-of-pole mounts and some prefer to build their own. If you're looking for the easiest method, we recommend going with a professional mounting system. This rail system is configured for two rows of 12 modules each. If you need a different configuration or you're interested in pole mounts, please contact us and we can design a mount to meet your specifications. This kit is one of the easiest ways to get started with a grid-tie solar system. It comes with 5,640 watts in solar modules, a Fronius grid-tie inverter for 60 Hz electrical systems and all the necessary equipment. The inverter is capable of 6,000 watts continuous output and DOES NOT use a battery bank to store energy. In the event of a utility power outage, this system will not power your home. Due to National Electric Code regulations, the inverter must shut down if the utility power is lost (this is to protect the electricians that are working on the utility lines). The Fronius IG Plus 6.0 can handle a maximum of 30 KD235GX modules for 7,050 watts. If you want to take advantage of this inverter's maximum output, we can easily customize the design for you.

Wire Requirement:This wire is NOT included and must be purchased separately. This is the wire that travels from the MNPV3 combiner box and connects to the Fronius inverter. You can go to your local hardware or electrical supply store and purchase wire with THHN rated insulation. THHN must be installed in electrical conduit. You will need 3 insulated wires (usually a black for positive, white for negative and green for ground) and a bare copper wire for grounding the solar panels. We sell bare copper wire in
#8 AWG and
#6 AWG. The maximum DC current is 15.8 amps and 515 Volts open circuit. If you use #12 AWG stranded copper wire, that will work for lengths up to about 200 feet. If you have any questions about wire or wiring methods, please
email us or call and we will be happy to help you select the proper wire.
Warranty Information:
- Kyocera KD235GX-LPB: 5 years workmanship, 20 years at 80% power output
- Fronius IG Plus Inverter: 10 years
- MidNite Solar MNPV3 Combiner Box: 5 years
Note: Every solar system installation is different. While this kit contains almost everything you need, you will have to provide some of your own materials. For example, you may want to purchase some wire nuts for splicing wire (you may or may not need to splice wire depending upon your installation). You may also need to upgrade your kilowatt-hour meter or add an additional meter if your local electrical code requires it. The XRS mounting system will also require hardware for fastening the feet to the mounting surface. Depending upon your type of installation, you may need to install a secondary electrical panel (sub-panel) and you will need a 2-pole circuit breaker rated a minimum of 25 amps. This brand/style of circuit breaker is based upon your electrical panel.
