Enphase Micro Inverters for Grid Tie Solar

We carry all Enphase micro grid tie solar inverters and accessories. The enphase inverters are not compatible with all solar panels. For a list of which panels will work, see the "compatibility list" link at the bottom of the page.We only stock Enphase with the MC4 connectors, some are available on special order with Tyco SolarLok connectors.

The Enphase Energy Solar Micro-inverter system is a set of small units that connect directly to each solar module to convert DC power into grid-compliant AC power, and transmits valuable performance data on each module to the system owner. The result is more power, a more reliable system, and the ability to monitor and respond quickly to performance issues. Home owners and business owners get more energy, lower costs, and greater control of their solar investment.

What is a Micro-inverter? What is a Micro-inverter system?

An inverter is a power converter that converts direct current (DC) into alternating current (AC). Traditionally, this has meant one, centrally-located inverter converting all of the DC current from the entire PV array into grid-compliant AC power. A Micro-inverter is a fully integrated device that converts the DC output of a single solar module into grid-compliant AC power. AC power then travels upstream through an ordinary branch circuit, and to the service panel. A Micro-inverter system, then, is a federation of multiple micro-inverters all along a branch circuit, and/or within multiple branch circuits, which are all converting DC to AC, all injecting their current upstream, and reporting back in real-time regarding their individual performance. The three key elements of an Enphase Micro-Inverter System are:
1) the Enphase Micro-Inverter
2) the Energy Management Unit (Emu)
3) the Enlighten web based analytics and visualization.
All three elements are integrated to provide a comprehensive energy production and management system. How many Enphase Microinverters can be on a single branch circuit?

Following are the maximum Microinverters per branch circuit:

  • M190 - 240V split-phase power - 15 Microinverters per branch circuit
  • M190 - 208V three-phase power - 21 Microinverters per branch circuit
  • M215 - 240V split-phase power - 17 Microinverters per branch circuit
  • M215 - 208V three-phase power - 25 Microinverters per branch circuit

There can be an unlimited number of branch circuits per installation. Advantages of the Enphase microinverter system include expandability - you can start with with one panel + inverter setup and add more at any time. Another advantage is that you can mix panel types and manufacturers, as long they are compatible with the inverter.
