| Overcurrent protection (fuses and circuit breakers) are required by section 240.3 of the National Electric Code. Not only is it required, but it's also a good idea. Without overcurrent protection in a fault condition, you run the risk of fires and explosions. Basically, any electrical circuit you install should have some type of fuse or circuit breaker to protect your wire and equipment. A $16 circuit breaker can potentially save you hundreds or thousands of dollars in replacement equipment. It may even prevent your home from catching fire. | |||||
