Morningstar SunSaver 15 Amp MPPT Solar Charge Controller

Details

15 Amp, 12/24 Volt MPPT Solar Charge Controller.

This MPPT charge controller will handle up to 200 watts for 12 volt systems, or 400 watts for 24 volt systems. This controller is ideal for those of you that got those high voltage panels at a great price and then found out it was not a 12-volt panel.

This is the ideal controller for many small systems where the cost of one of the large MPPT controllers is not justified. The SS-MPPT-15 can be used for 12 or 24 volt battery systems, with panel voltages up to 75 volts (3 12-volt panels in series). This is the controller we recommend where you are using one of the larger grid-tie type panels such as the Kyocera KD or other panels that have Vmp higher than 18 volts or so.

This controller is the most efficient solar charge controller available for smaller systems.

5 year warranty

I placed two of these on each of two Internet towers that each have 8 6v batteries and a single Kyocera 340 Watt panel. One year ago. No apparent problems. (Posted on November 5, 2017)

Good Controller, Good Value for Small to Medium Sized Stand Alone Systems Review by MT Sun

I have had this controller for several months now. Have used it with both 12 Volt and 24 Volt Battery banks. It works very well and does everything it is supposed to. I also have a Morning Star SunSaver 20L, it has worked great on a 24 Volt system for over a year now. This new SunSaver MPPT definitely does appear to harvest a little more energy for charging than the standard PWM type controller. Overall very happy. The only reason I didn't give it five stars is because it has not been in operation for over a year, if it's still running this time next year then it deserves five stars. (Posted on June 21, 2017)

This is the smallest but most expensive MPPT type we have used and will replace with a PVM type. Ive had a similar failure with sunsaver PVM. something internal shorts out causing the battery to also fail. (Posted on November 11, 2016)
